He was thrilled when he opened the box and immediately set it up and began playing. The volume is easily controllable and the headphone jack was a super idea. The only thing I can think of that I do not like is the loud, obnoxious beeping when the volume is turned up or down. They are as a starting set for our 16 year old who has started playing cymbals in the percussion section of her high school. We love the idea of the capability to use head phones so she can practice without everyone being involved. We were also able to plug the USB into a portable charger, like for a cell phone, and she should be able to use them without a plug. She does not have her own computer at this time so we wanted to be sure that she could move around with them. I will update the review once she actually opens them at Christmas.
