Review: This has become one my favorite power drivers for around the house. - This has become one my favorite power drivers for around the house. I have a 20v drill driver that I use for bigger jobs like mounting wall fixtures, tv mounts, tool hangers, carpentry, drilling, etc. But for small and simple work like assembling furniture, repairing small items, driving small screws for pictures/clocks/deco, the light weight and manageable speed of this driver is super convenient. The fact that major bits are stored on the driver has been incredibly convenient. They're also standard-sized so can be replaced and mixed to your convenience. For a low cost item it has been more than worthwhile to have. I ended up buying one for my mom, who doesn't need a jobsite grade tool for dealing with simple items. As something that gets only occasional use, it sits in a drawer in my tool chest. Though I find that I rarely need to charge it and it seems to be ready to go whenever I need it. I do wish like many devices these days that it was USB chargeable but the proprietary charging AC adapter is at least small and foolproof. When charged, it delivers a solid amount of torque to handle basic house jobs. I.e. you wouldn't typically need more than this. I have hung wall shelves in the pantry, assembled furniture both large and small, replaced ceiling light fixtures and chandeliers and ceiling fans. It also gives a sufficient amount of speed (RPMs) so as to be manageable when torquing screws but not so slow as to be agonizingly tedious even when working with a lot of screws. It does a good job of basic work at a low cost and its small and compact enough to fit in a pocket, or at least hang out of one. It has onboard storage and its rechargeable. For those of us who like the utility of a power tool in the convenience of a kitchen drawer, this one is incredibly useful.
Review: nice design, good power - A small, powerful electric screwdriver. It isn't the smallest I've seen, but the unit is sturdy enough to allow me to apply some pressure. The trigger is comfortable to hold for extended use. And B&D have solved a couple of basic, vexing issues with these tools: a place to store the bits on the unit (hooray for not having to remember *where* you stored those bits), and a magnetic spot to hold the a screw or two. So much better than "in my pocket". As for those bits? They look just like the ones from my full-sized B&D drill, and as a major bonus they include hex, square, and star bits-- I can't wait to tackle my next IKEA project with this baby instead of a stupid miniature hex wrench that leaves my hand cramped after the 40th screw (not exaggerating). The internal battery is a 4V li-ion, which type are the most forgiving rechargeable batteries on the market currently, and also safe to throw in the trash when the unit reaches its end of life (although you should turn in the device or at least the battery for recycling if possible). As for why you'd want one of these, instead of just using your cordless drill? My original reason was being able to get into smaller spaces, and not having to worry about stripping screws (or damaging the material) with a too-powerful device. But now that I've compared them directly? The screwdriver weighs 1/3 what the drill (w/ battery) does-- 15oz vs 2lb 10oz. A huge difference for the home user. Also see my photos comparing this screwdriver to my Black & Decker LDX120C. One negative, is the complete lack of a charging light or battery capacity light. You can't tell it's charging, or when it's done charging, or how fast it's charging, or how much battery is left. Battery gauges are found on even the cheapest USB battery packs, and integrating a simple red/green LED on the power adapter (instead of the drill) should be child's play for B&D engineers. I find the omission on such a mature product quite perplexing, but not enough to mark down my rating. This isn't the lightest or cheapest electric screwdriver on the market, but it feels substantial, has an integrated battery, and still weighs only 1/3 as much as a modest cordless drill. Recommended.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is there any way to use this as a light-duty drill?**
A: Actually, I have an old one and I DID use it as a light-duty drill. I would say though, that you can get a light-duty "drill" that would work as a screwdriver. Would have a better suited torque.

**Q: Drill through a two by four?**
A: This would not be recommended for drilling. This is a screwdriver and not a drill. A drill would be better suited for drilling.

**Q: Would this work well for putting furniture together?**
A: As long as you don’t have to drill your own holes to assemble the furniture. Otherwise it would be a real time saver for light duty assembling.

**Q: Does it really take 1 -2 months to ship or is that a typo?**
A: I got mine in 3 days from ordering it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Left it on my roof summer 2025 and found it spring 2026…looks bad now…but still works like new!!
*by H***S on June 16, 2026*

If you are looking for a small, strong, inexpensive rechargeable screwdriver with vital bit selection in the handle: this one is amazing. It spent a year on my roof and still held the charge and works like new! I lost it last year and yesterday I found it on my roof next to the chimney cap. Completely bleached white on the sunny-side up (looks great!) and bleached badly to half white, half light orange on the side that was facing down. I threw it off the roof next to the trashcan. Came down off the roof to assemble two raised garden beds and a large outdoor storage case. On my way to get my cordless 20v expensive yellow and black (D****T) screw driver I passed this Black+Decker driver to throw it in the trashcan and as I pulled the trigger for the fun of it: it worked totally fine!! Even the light came on. Almost 12 months on my roof in Virginia, USA and I just sat down with it and assembled ALL MY 3 PROJECTS and didn’t notice any deterioration of the batteries at all. Same charge from last year. The rotating bit holder still rotates fine and the bits function perfectly though some are half rusted…I mean 10-ish months of rain and snow, ice and sun…wow. I’ve disappointed myself a few times by leaving a tool outside but never had a good experience like this. I do own several Black+Decker tools and kitchen appliances and they’ve never given up on me. Not a single one! Not yet. I’m thrilled to have found it and have this experience and be able to write a review like this. I won’t be buying a new one for myself because I like Ol’ Rusty. But this’ll be my new go-to gift for friends and family. I’m going to make wrapping paper from the photos of the tool itself. And I’m just a guy who buys tools I need and doesn’t get or ask for any compensation for these reviews. I just want to tell people if I think a tool is good or not and why. This tool is obviously rough and rugged. It has great torque, a good light (I worked in the night with it yesterday!), all the right bits in the little rotating storage area) and I got nothing bad to say about it. I hope this was helpful. All the best to you & happy driving!
