Right now we are getting cold mornings (high 40s) and warm evenings (high 70s). So on the ride home I also throw my thermals and liner in the bag. Still could take more! As far is rain proof I've only been in one mid to light rain storm on the ride home sofar. No issues, but from I've seen of the build I don't think there would be an issue riding through an heavy thunderstorm! I only use 2 heavy duty bungee cords and crisis cross them from my luggage rack and bag. All I have to do is unhook them from the top and open the bag. The only time I have to the bag off is if my wife wants to ride.
