If you wind it more, the very light weight of the mice cannot overcome the tension of the wound spring. I modified the attachment to use Wide Mouth Mason jar rings so I could deploy the traps with 64oz and 120oz jars. I did not use water as the drowning method is a horrific way to die. Using jars allows me to dispatch the mice using the Co2 method, conforming to the AVMA guidelines, which causes far less trauma and pain to these native wild mice. After releasing more than 20, I am not willing to release semi-domesticated wild mice to become a problem for my neighbor’s homes or farms.
