**Q: How do the springs work?**
A: There are slots in your existing recessed housing. The tabs on the springs go into the slots and the spring tension holds this cover in place.

**Q: Is the glass frosted or clear?**
A: The glass is frosted.

**Q: Does this trim fit a square opening 8 x 8" ?**
A: No. It fits an opening of 9.5 x 9.

**Q: Will this fit a 73/4" opening?**
A: The part of the  fixture that must fit into the box measures 7 3/4". So it may just fit your opening. It did not fit my ceiling box which measured 7 1/4". I did not return it because it cost as much to mail it back as the fixture cost. Hope this helps.
