When you receive this metal detector you can update it (if needed) to latest (newest) update. Often times, this is not needed. The Nokta Simplex+ is an excellent metal detector. Thank you for your question. **Q: It comes with headphones** A: They have a kit that comes with the pinpointer, a hat, and the wireless headphones. You can use the wireless headphones with this detector or they say 1/4” wires ones, but I bought some and either the headphones were wrong or it takes a bigger plug than the 1/4” **Q: Does the detector come with a warranty?** A: I know it comes with a warranty. Factory warranty but not sure how long. Any problems with unit it is sent to facility in Georgia for repairs **Q: How many years is the battery expected to last? I see that then you have to send it in to the factory for replacement.** A: The rechargeable battery (with proper case) will last 5+ years.
