Is it brushed nickel?** A: Yes the one they are showing here is the Brushed Nickel. **Q: what is the diameter of the ring and how far does the base comes out of the wall?** A: The diameter is 7" inches and the base extends 2 1/4" inches from the wall. **Q: does a bath towel fit through it ?** A: Yes - I just tried it, and there seems to be plenty of room. I think it might not be appropriate if you have the bath "sheets", but regular size towels are good. Such a contrast to the other towel rings that I purchased that were flimsy and a much cooler color.The color of this is a nice brushed nickle, which matches the HansGrohe shower head and mixer cover. It's a warmer color than some others, which is perfect.The thing that makes this stand out is the weight and size. It's got a nice heft to it and feels as if it's built to last. It also doesn't stick out from the wall as much as the others, which was a consideration for us in our space.
