Review: A Great Little Radio - I was really taken aback by the power of this little radio. I find it much easier to tune into stations via wheels rather than buttons and this is why I selected this model. When I inserted batteries and switched it on I was very surprised at how loud the volume switches up to and the clarity of the station I was on. It fits neatly into a coat pocket or can be clipped onto a belt. The headphones are of a good quality and actually stay in put when inserted in the ear. I'm not in a position to say how long batteries will last but i'm sure they will last longer than a radio which searches for stations via a button as these models usually light up when the radio is on using more battery power. The after service email I received from the seller notified me that it also comes with a two year warranty. I took some time deciding on the radio that would suit my needs and can say that I am highly satisfied with my eventual choice and purchase.
Review: Good for the price - Great little radio, sound and reception is fantastic. Great if you're out and about walking, working or whatever. Only thing I've found is that it's stopped working for me after 3 months. Changed batteries a few times and after 1 or 2 minutes the reception disappears and can't get it back, goes all crackly. Loved it at first but this is very disappointing. Wasn't exposed to moisture or anything, I can only assume it's something to do with the fact that I use it for my job and I work outside!

## Features

- ♫ Excellent Reception: Frequency range: AM:530-1710KHz; FM:87-108MHz. Our fm radio with high-quality DSP chip and earphones wire working as antenna, ensure more stable signal. No need to pull out the antenna like other analog pocket radios. Allows you to listen to ball games, weather broadcast or classic musics over the air without static while going for your daily walk.
- ♫ Easy to Carry: Measuring only 43.3 x 21.2 x 87.2mm and weighing only 40g (batteries not included), this battery radio is about the size of two Bic lighters, taking up almost no room in your pocket. Back clip included for clipping on pocket, is quite convenient for walking, running, cycling, gardening and travel.
- ♫ Easy to Use: All our J-985 radios portable has is an earphone jack, an ON/OFF switch, a tuning wheel, a volume wheel, a band switch, an old-school tuner dial and a power indicator, which is quite easy to use. The old-school tuner dial is just more intuitive and pleasing than push-button digital interfaces. It’s easy for younger kids and the elderly.
- ♫ FM Stereo :On the mode of FM-ST, this mini fm radio delivers rich stereo sound. 3.5mm earphone jack is designed for exclusive music space. Just put on your earphones, then can enjoy the fantastic time by yourself and take a break from the bustle and hustle.
- ♫ Battery Operated: Operated by 2 AAA batteries, this portable am/fm radio can last for more than 30 hours. It’s always nice to have a small pocket radio on hand for things like blackouts, ice storms and power outages, etc. Tips: Low battery can affect the radio signal. So, please replace the batteries when the radio makes lots of hiss.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does the small radio portable can auto shut-off?**
A: No

**Q: Does the transistor radio have a built-in antenna or external antenna?**
A: This portable radio's antenna is built-in.

**Q: If headphones are not plugged in can you hear the radio as normal?**
A: Well if you don't have plugs in its just engine for you, so best to have with plugs in.

**Q: How long is the battery life?**
A: That surprises me as I had a similar device I bought from Woolworths many years ago (forget what brand but nothing fancy, Lloytron maybe?). It ran off 1 x AAA battery and lasted absolutely ages. Perhaps if you use Alkaline batteries then you'd get better results. The cheap zinc batteries might be fine for your remote control but they are also more prone to leakage and. You'd think they would be fine to use in a low power device like this but the fact it requires 2 of the things rather than 1 like my old one did, maybe it's more power hungry than expected.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Track side radio commentary.
*by A***M on 3 November 2025*

Bought this radio for use at Brand's Hatch. Worked perfectly all weekend. Tuning was easy but also easily moved. Volume was good and the headphones are cheep but work. Great value for money. Cant comment on battery life as only used for a weekend. But all is all very impressed.
