The DC17 was designed by drum corps legend Scott Johnson. The stick features a medium taper and full bead for a wide range of dynamics on the marching snare while still providing a great feel in the player's hands.Because of its resilience, responsiveness and durability, hickory is the most commonly used wood for drum sticks. Review: I bought the ProMark Scott Johnson FireGrain marching sticks, and they are seriously impressive. These are clearly made for drummers who play hard and need sticks that can keep up. The FireGrain treatment really makes a difference—they feel stronger and more durable than standard hickory sticks. The weight and balance are excellent, and the large round tip gives a solid, full sound with great articulation. I also noticed there’s very little excess vibration, which makes long practice sessions much more comfortable on the hands and wrists. The lacquer finish gives a nice grip without feeling sticky, and the sticks hold up incredibly well even after heavy use. These are ideal for marching, drumline practice, or anyone who plays with power and precision. If you’re looking for high-quality, long-lasting marching sticks that can take a beating and still perform, these are a total win. I’d absolutely buy them again!

**Q: Is the stick really big**
A: Compared to Ralph Hardemon's it is not. I even use them for symphonic band sometimes just because the weight is easier to control, but I still want a little bit of volume. Hope this helps!!!

**Q: my rubber tip cracked, how can i replace it?**
A: Vic firth sells rubber tips, not in blue though

**Q: What do they sound like if you use them on tenor drums? What is the effect it gives? Thanks!**
A: It depends on the time of drum heads. I have Removed Clear Pinstripes and the sticks give a very articulate sound. It gives a lot of attack yet somehow decreases the sustain of each note. In summary: you get the same tone and louder attack but less sustain.

**Q: Are these sticks the best sticks are these better than dc-50**
A: There's no such thing as a better stick. It's all preference. In this case, the DC-50's are a little shorter than these, but also a little bit larger in diameter. They're both hickory and have the same tip.
