May martial arts writers bear down on this for legitimacy. This is important, but it is also the tactics of con-men. I'm not saying at this author is a con-man.The book does push you to get buy the related video material. I can only hope that camera angles showing grips and angles of application are better than the writing and pictures in this book displays.There is good time put into explaining the muscle groups, bone connections, and related tendons.As I stated, it is often unclear what is being locked and by what manipulation is exactly which direction.The pictures make sure that the opponent is grimacing in pain to show how effective the techniques are. Too me that's unneeded showmanship.I have been hesitant to get a book by this author due to the width of his work across various martial arts, but I wanted to pick-up something on chin na as I have had very little exposure to it other than those applications that can be found in other martial arts.The author appears to be very respected in the martial arts world. Each technique in the DVD references the book numberings.The video demonstration is great when you are reading the book since the techniques need to be seen and experienced to be understood.You probably should watch the DVD with a remote control in one hand and the book in the other hand.The DVD demonstrates the techniques. The book describes why and how the techniques work. The book also describes escapes and counters which are not covered in the DVD.The book is divided into:1.
