Starting with the $10 tester that basically just makes sure the pins are lining up, this may seem like a big jump, but it's really helped me save time and understand what's wrong rather than just guess and deduce. First off, it's well built. I throw it in my tool bag, laptop bag, it falls, no problem. It's compact and easy to have with you all the time. If you're doing the quick test xjust plug it in, and it'll light up for dhcp, switch connection, router connection and finally internet. But if you connect to its wifi signal, your phone browser becomes the interface to access more tools! The most important is cable tester that can tell you which pins are working and the distance to where they are broken. AND it logs into your account online and sends reports as it gets internet connected for each test which you can append notes, etc. If you do big cabling jobs, you should probably get something above this.
