I have a large (110 lbs) dog, and we had been guesstimating his food with another cup as I didn't want to leave a baking measuring cup in with the dog food. This cup is great! For just a few bucks I don't have to worry about my 10 year old giving the dog a full extra cup of food per meal, as I have *caught* him doing before...the dog let me take it back, but it's not fun to look at those big sad eyes when you take away his food. lol All in all, this cup would certainly have the measurements rubbed away if placed in a dishwasher. It is lightweight plastic, not thick heavy plastic. The 2.5 cup measurement is only about 1/8" away from the top of the cup, so it isn't a 3cup with a 2.5cup measurement like some others that I have seen.
