A small scratch by my own nail feels like a deep paper cut and hangs on like someone poured lemon juice in it. Crazy, crazy stuff. I wanted it to be ANYTHING other than the St. John's Wort because the herb worked like a dream. I looked up every side effect I could find on the internet, but I had to dig deeeep to find only a few medical reports about this issue - which it turns out is a nerve issue caused by SJW. SJW can help nerve pain apparently, but no body talks about causing nerve pain! The craziest thing is not being able to find reviews or info about this. HOWEVER, I know it's not just me because my best friend (who tried SJW because I raved about it) had the exact same side effects. One day she mentioned what she was dealing with to me, and we were blown away that neither of us could find any information on the internet. I am in mourning that I have to stop. When I first started, I didn't notice any change, but my family did! It took a while for me to notice a 'lightness' in mood that was different. Over the years whenever I've run out and stopped taking it for a while...my family notices and reminds me to keep taking it. Now, I'm on a ordering schedule so I never run out :) If you are new to using St. John's Wort...be patient. It can take several weeks to reach full effectiveness in your body. It also takes a while to 'leave' the body after stopping use, so there is no problem with weaning off...you just stop taking it. Also be aware that it is a blood thinner and some people may be more sensitive to that aspect. It may also cause sun sensitivity, so be careful about sun exposure. I haven't had a problem with either of these issues myself. This brand is very good quality and a great price! UPDATE: March 2015.....Am still using this brand.
