**Q: What about the added sugars? Cane sugar listed as the first ingredient, dextrose as the second...??? Is this healthy?**
A: Thanks for asking!  There is a lot of controversy about sugar in our diet. While, we don’t disagree that excess sugar or excess anything for that matter is bad for us, we do believe that the role that sugar plays in health and performance is about context. In the context of an active lifestyle and more specifically during prolonged or very intense exercise, sugar can be critical to helping to maintain one’s blood sugar, to keeping oneself fueled, and along with sodium can significantly improve the transport of water into the body. 

The bottom line is that consuming an excess of sugar isn’t good for you if you’re not active. But, if​ ​you’re working hard and sweating, a bit of sugar will improve your performance significantly.

So if you're not sweating and working hard, don't use our Sport Hydration Drink Mix.  But if you are sweating you need to put back both the water and the electrolytes you’re losing and can best do that with a drink that contains a little bit of sugar and plenty of sodium.

Which is all to say, we encourage working athletes not to fear sugar during an effort, and also that the type of sugar is important too - we use REAL cane sugar. Sugar (or glucose) is ultimately the fuel that our body uses, and more specifically, the only source of fuel for our brain, nervous system, and red blood cells. There is of course a balance to all this, but if you're up off the couch and out on the trails it won't hurt to have a bit of carbs to keep you hydrated and fueled.

**Q: The old 1 lb. (454g) bag had 19 servings (24 g/serving), this has been reduced to 15.5 oz (440g) but servings increased to 20 (22 g/serving). Why?**
A: Thanks for the question!  Because Skratch Labs is a food product and not a supplement product, it has to abide by strict FDA regulations and to conform to their standards, they base the serving size off a 12-16 oz serving.  With the new Sport Hydration drink mix you'll get 20 servings if measured out correctly using the scoop provided.  The "old" Exercise hydration drink mix was based off a serving of 500 ml which is slightly more which is why you would get ~19 servings per bag for that given serving size.  
It's still the same great product from Skratch, but because of new regulations they had to alter the nutrition panels to meet FDA standards.  Let us know if you need anything else, and thanks for all the support of Skratch!

**Q: What is the concentration of electrolytes after mixing with water?**
A: The electrolyte profile is a reflection of the median or low side of average that we see for the population - about 750-800 mg of sodium per liter. This is about twice as high as what you’d find in typical sports drinks, but potentially still on the lower side of normal for the population. Because sweat is mostly sodium and because sodium is the most important electrolyte to replace to help drive thirst and to maintain proper physiological performance, we have an electrolyte ratio that is high on sodium and much lower with respect to potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Despite the fact that potassium, calcium, and magnesium are lost in relatively small amounts compared to sodium, our drink contains a little more of those electrolytes than is typically lost in sweat.

**Q: Is this similar to Liquid I.V, so drinking one glass would be sinilar to 2-3 glasses of plain water?**
A: Hi Ashley, thank you for for reaching out. I'm not familiar with Liquid I.V, but 1 serving of Skratch hydration mix matches most people's sweat loss. 400mg of sodium and 19g  of sugar per 500ml of water to hydrate you faster than water alone.  Let us know if we can help with anything else. PR

I like the hydration powder from Skratch Labs a lot, did a bunch of searching to find something without artificial sweeteners, and it paid off. The taste itself is light and sweet, not overpowering like a soda, and the tangy citrus/lime flavour really masks the taste of the neccessary minerals that can be a bit too salty in some products. The instructions on the package says to use a number of scoops of powder to amounts of water, and the scoop is included inside the package. The product mixes very well, no clumps or otherwise. The bag itself is resealable via a zip-lock, so the solution does not absorb moisture from the air. As a light user I this will last me a long time. For heavy work, training, trekking or other outdoor activities replenish your salts! Stay hydrated! A solid recommendation from me.
