Best mechanical keyboard for the $$$

*by P***S on Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2017*

This is a great keyboard for the price. I had some mechanical/defect issues with brands like Corsair and Logitech in addition to some quirks that shouldn't be present in a keyboard costing north of $100. I got this KM570 MX with cherry browns for 70$ shipped.Pro's:1. Most of these back-lit keyboards have the top row of numbers in addition to several keys like left / right arrow, colon, pipe, and curly braces REVERSED i.e., upside down! This is no doubt intended for gamers and also because the LED on a cherry switch is not directly center because of the mechanics of the switch. Since I'm less gamer than an IT Networking/Linux student, I would get caught up when needed to hit the right key in addition to using Shift. I've been typing on keyboards since 1990 and am used to seeing the $ symbol ABOVE the number 4, not BELOW it. GSkill is the only company making a keyboard with cherry switches that have the proper arrangement, lighting be damned and that's OK by me.2. It has a no frills layout. I don't need bling.3. The switches feel great and there's no echo or ringing when keys are hit aggressively. A Romer-G can drive you insane.4. It has a strain-relieved high-quality USB cable with none of the detachable BS of some other brand-named keyboards. I don't have to worry about how it's connected or if it's going to come out.5. It REMEMBERS its lighting setting if it's unplugged. Do you see this Logitech?Con's:1. The red back-light. I wish more manufacturers would use a basic clean white for the entry-level non-RGB models. Some people just want a basic back-light. The red is clean but it's red......2. It has a tendency to slide around. Please add some rubber to the flip-down legs on the rear and make the front pads make more contact with the surface and there won't be any sliding.Ultimately I'm happy to see a great product come out of GSkill. I bought RAM from them over the years which never failed me. This keyboard needs to be on the list of anyone looking for a no-frills board with cherry switches. I give it 4.5 stars.

Great Keyboard. Beautiful colors, solidfly built, no light bleed.

*by D***E on Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2017*

I've had this keyboard for about a week now, and so far am very impressed. I bought this after eyeing RGB keyboards for several years, always put off by the high price and the insane light bleed. By light bleed, I mean when the keycaps are too high and allow the light beneath them to bleed out in all directions. The last thing I want in a darkened room is to have my keyboard shooting out colored lights all over my desk and depending on the angle, directly into my eyes. Either the LED was directly leaking light, or reflecting off the bottom of the board. The vast majority of keyboards I looked at in person for the first year or two had this issue, especially ones with mechanical switches. Logitech seemed to be the only company that properly sealed the LEDs so the keyboard didn't turn into a projector, however they use proprietary membrane switches that I do not care for. There's a few YouTube videos of people taking cardboard or other materials and tediously cutting holes for the switches, removing all the keycaps, and putting down a matte filter to prevent reflection. I decided to just wait until a viable option came up.After a week's use, I am extremely happy with this keyboard. It is solid as a tank, saves your lighting profiles and macros to the board's memory (no software needed after initial setup) and there's no light bleed. The software is relatively difficult to use for a few minutes as you learn through trial and error. However after getting the hang of it, it's a piece of cake to set up. I have a couple of simple macros, and two main profiles for games. The colors are very vivid and while I'm not a fan of RGB lighting on motherboards, RAM, or anything stupid like that, the keyboard is a perfect application. The selection of colors is great - I use dark blue as my main background and orange for my "contrast keys". For the Insert/Delete/Arros section I use a very nice green, magenta for numpad, and red and yellow for random other keys up top. After learning that you can select the whole board to change color simply by clicking and dragging a box over the keyboard, I was able to try a dozen different setups quickly before settling on my preferred one. As I said, once you learn the software it's pretty powerful and a snap to set up a new profile. My only complaint is that on keys that have two symbols (function keys, numbers, numpad), the LED light really only lights up the top part of the key. This isn't an issue for the numbers or numpad since the important symbol is on top, but the traditional numbers below the F keys are pretty dark in a lighted room. At night it's not an issue and TBH it's not like I can't figure out where 3 or 8 is. However, for a $100 keyboard it is a bit of a let down and something G.Skill should fix going forward. The uploaded picture is for Diablo 3, with keys 1-4, H and I lit up. I have the Brown switches which are great for typing or gaming.

Smooth, Soft Keys & Bright RGB

*by S***M on Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2017*

I'm upgrading from Oetemu Blue switches, so going from those to these MX Cherry Brown switches (for work and play), made for a pretty significant upgrade in terms of comfort, speed and overall feel. My previous keyboards keycaps felt like a light plastic, but the caps on this board are really high quality. They're much softer, and have a good grip on my fingertips. I'll attach a screenshot of the first typing test I took with this new beast I just got in, it's definitely worth it for anyone that types AND games.I purchased the RGB version and at first, programming the keyboard to my own custom RGB color to match my setup was a little confusing. But I didn't look at the manual in any way so that's probably why, so I can't ding them for that. But the program DOES let you enter in your own customer RGB so that made it SUPER easy to match the rest of my setup. The RGB isn't as bright as my Corsair Sabre mouse next to it but it's hardly noticeable. But the amazing part is there's no light bleed at the bottom of the caps, like my previous keyboard had.Overall, I definitely recommend this keyboard for someone who needs something for actually typing on and not just for gaming. But even if you get this just for gaming, the MX Brown switches are really really nice, as they don't require you to bottom your keys out and they don't require a ton of force to activate either.
