After doing this, the hot water stink is GONE! This is in a garage guest room and sometimes sits for weeks without use, so we turn the water heater off. Even after sitting, NO STINK! I will say there is a slight metallic taste tot he water, but nothing drastic and far more agreeable than skunk breath water. (it’s very tight). cut to size. what’s the problem? needs plumbers tape, or?** A: You must with all plumbing fittings apply a sealant of 3-4 wraps of teflon tape and as a added leak preventative apply a plumbers paste before assembling.
