The metal, the feet and the mounting knuckle is much more smooth. They both aren't level when the adapter is in the knuckle flat, but when you angle the knuckle anyway you can spin the adapter inside of knuckle to level out your pad. I do think Roland price is a bit to high but I was willing to spend my money on them anyway. No hate for Gibraltar or other alternatives. But if you're buying top tier gear you should pair it with top tier hardware.
