It's good if you like a lighter truffle flavor. Also, the jar is smaller than other jars so it's a good one to buy if you want to test the waters. I know not everyone loves truffles as much as I do.The problem is the ratio of truffle to salt. This one has 1% truffle whereas my favorite brand - Casina Rossa - has 5% truffle and that's why you can actually experience the truffles, fragrance and all. You can even see tiny brown bits of truffle in the salt. The higher the ratio the better.Truffle salt is good for so many things aside from meats. You can add it to popcorn, salad, sprinkle a little on rice and on eggs, it's the most amazing taste sensation. A tomato salad with olive oil, a little red wine vinegar and truffle salt is so good as is a potato salad with olive oil and truffle salt. Amazing flavor that really gets kicked up a notch with this stuff.By all means, try this one and then move up to a salt with a higher concentration of truffles. I didn't realize the Trader Joe's salt was a seasonal item, so I had to look for an alternative when we started running out of the salt. My daughter didn't like it at all, and I didn't like much either. The truffle smell is strong, but maybe it's just the actual salt we don't like. I only use pink salt when I cook, and the regular salt taste just wasn't as good.
