I'm not a fan of totally digital scales - they just don't have a good feel to me - but I'm on a fitness kick and needed a scale to track my progress, and I liked the look of this with the big old-fashioned dial. It's a bit artificial the way the needle swings up - but it also reminds me of the gauges on my car - so that's pretty cool. The digital readout is easy to see - no need to stare down at the needle to figure out if we're at 177 or 178 today. I was also glad that it came with batteries - which I can switch out to rechargeable when the time comes.
