The plastic is crystal clear and have gone through the dishwasher a bunch of times. At first, we were making sure they went in the dishwasher's top rack only, but the kids have put them on the lower rack a bunch of times .. no problems.EDIT: Two years later, they crack. Whether this is due to the dishwasher or not, I do not know.I think the glasses are pretty durable, but I did drop one from about 2 feet above a hard counter, and it did crack. I think the glass hit at just the right angle though .. I think if you dropped it 50 times, it'd crack only once. I was unlucky.I will be buying more of these to replace all my glassware.EDIT2: I still like these glasses, but I think the dishwasher detergent "etches" them and now they look partially frosted/ugly.
