We decided to give this Glean cleaner a try (a concern as the carved fireplace wasn't exactly inexpensive) - using a bit of neat spray and a soft brush, then wiping away with a damp cloth there was little difference. So we used more cleaner, brush and wiping away & I have to say we were dissapointed. However after leaving for 2 or 3 hours of drying we were surprised that the mantle top almost looked like new and was the same colour as the front. There is just a bit of discolouration at the back, near the wall but it's hardly noticeable. It'll be interesting to see how long it remains clean for now. So we would definitely recommend Glean for a natural limestone light cream fireplace that almost has a semi porous surface that attracts the dirt. We're really happy with the result.
