**Q: My fiance is puerto rican and loves his rice and really wants a rice pot.....is this what he wants? not a rice cooker but a rice pot.**
A: Yes! Definitely!  I'm Dominican and our Puerto Rican bothers and us share our cuisine, and this is the "caldero de arroz" that we use for all our rices (white, arroz con Guandules, arroz con pollo, etc)..he will be satisfied and happy when you show him this!

**Q: How much rice can be cooked in the 4.8 qrt?**
A: well, you could google it, but here ya go:

a cup of dry uncooked rice weighs approximately 180 grams or .3968 pounds.

there are four cups to a quart, so, 19.2 cups in 4.8 qts.

so now you multiply 19.2 cups (volume) by 180 grams (weight) and you get 34,560 grams or 3.456 kg....convert kg to pounds multiply 3.456Kg by 2.2 lbs/kg....6.89 pounds of rice....more than you can eat in one sitting.

A: 2-3 cups of uncooked rice., with 2 1/2 it is about three quarters full.

**Q: Is it oven-safe, including the little black handle on the top?**
A: The black top handle is not oven safe the rest of it is. I used mine in the oven many times before replacing the top. I still use a lot

This is, by far, my most used pot. I was a bit skeptical when I received it because the QC didn't seem to be the greatest. Upon arrival, the lid fit well, but the top of the pan, where it was obviously cut before being removed from the mould, was rough with sharp edges especially around the handles. This was fixed with a file, but it was somewhat dangerous to handle before that. And not everyone has access to steel files. Beyond that, I use it nearly daily. It has good heat distribution, and I like the shape and size of it -- it's perfect for a single person or couple, but wouldn't hold up to family use at this size unless it's relegated to side dishes.
