It is not easy to hoist up alone, but I was able to remove the cover it came with and install this one all by myself. And I'm a housewife who is not in good shape :)I thought the cover itself was pretty decent. It was marked 9" thickness (your mattress thickness) but on the packaging it states that it stretches from 9"- 18" which I could believe. It fit our mattress no problem. Material on top is not very stretchy, and definitely makes sounds when you're moving around on it. Also, If you are going to use a sheet on top of this you'll want to use sheet keepers - those stretchy clip things that keep the corners on. Everytime I turned over at night the sheet was very slippery on top of this encasement. I ended up washing the old cover in very hot water and putting it back on over the top of this encasement because it was too slippery to keep the sheet on and I toss and turn alot.Overall I really like this product, I thought it does what the manufacturer describes and my husband said he sleeps better now that it is on. We got bedbugs from apartment neighborssince putting the encasement on we have not suffered with bed bugs since, although we did also steam ourbedroom carpet and deep cleaned it.
