Review: Great product for the price, with some quirks - This genuinely is a game-changer for someone like me who has a work-issued computer and a gaming PC, and switches between them over the course of a day. If you don’t mind going into your monitor’s menu to switch video inputs every time, a basic USB 3.0 KVM switch will do fine to manage peripherals (mouse, keyboard, webcam, speakers etc.). This is the setup I used for a while, but eventually I got lazy and decided I wanted a one-button solution to instantly switch between systems. This product accomplishes that while punching way above its price point, especially if purchased on sale. The pros: - Excellent value. I purchased mine around $90 USD. This is a lot of money, yes, but similar KVM switches cost 2-3x with questionable results. - FULL Displayport 1.4 support. While a lot of desertcart products may claim this, they often don’t come with full picture and feature support, especially in ‘hub’ type products. In my use case this is significant since my monitor outputs 5120x1440 at 240hz, which ONLY works over Displayport. I can confirm that 5120x1440 at 120hz and 8-bit color works flawlessly, which is the maximum supported by my monitor without DSC. G-sync also works great as well at these output settings. While I can’t personally confirm it, according to the Cable Matters website, this switch fully supports display stream compression (DSC). That means that, in theory, it is able to pass though up to 5120x1440 at 240hz and 10-bit color on two systems. My graphics card doesn’t support DSC so I have no way of knowing for sure, but it is definitely an impressive feature to have. The cons: - Bad included cables. The Cable Matters brand does make quality Displayport cables, and three are included (hence the value), but one of the three I received caused flickering and random black screens. At first I thought I received a bad unit, but I plugged in my replacement with the same cables and still had the same problems. I went ahead and purchased a new cable sold by Cable Matters (FYI, Cable Matters offers free replacements via their website) and all of the issues went away when I hooked it up. Displayport cables seem to be prone to these types of issues, generally due to poor shielding or connections. The included cables are solid but can still suffer problems. If you have picture issues like I did, I would recommend swapping out the included cables for comparable or higher quality options. - The remote: Didn’t work out of the box. I popped in a replacement battery and it works fine. You may need to replace the battery on your remote. Overall, I was willing to put up with the minor issues because there isn’t really a comparable product on the market. I have been using mine for six months and it still works great. I will provide any updates if that changes.
Review: Works well, just be sure to use short DisplayPort cables - I have this paired with an LG 27GN950, and with the exception of some flicker I get in macOS (older Intel based Macs only), this thing actually works pretty well. The remote is a nice touch too. Be sure to use short DisplayPort cables, as signal degradation can become a problem.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you're into gaming, this is the KVM switch you want!
*by J***O on August 30, 2023*

I've had a lot of KVM switches over the years: VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort 1.2, and others. Nearly all of them had problems. Sometimes the monitor wouldn't turn on. Sometimes the video signal would black out in the middle of game. Sometimes the color data was compressed. Sometimes G-SYNC wouldn't work, sometimes HDR wouldn't work, or the max frame rate of the monitor would be reduced. In short, KVM switches are usually a pain in the butt! I had really low expectations when I purchased this new one. Well, this DisplayPort 1.4 KVM from Cable Matters is the best one that I've ever had. It's tiny, easy to use, has a great remote, and best of all...it just works. Here is my hardware: • Computer 1: My first computer is an Apple 16" M2 MacBook Pro connected to a CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 dock. The dock is connected to the KVM switch with a USB-3 cable, and a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. • Computer 2: My second computer is a Windows gaming desktop with an RTX 4090 GPU. It's connected to the KVM with a USB-3 cable, and a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. • The KVM video output is connected to an LG 38" gaming monitor (model 38GL950G) with a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. It's running at 144 Hz with a resolution of 3840 x 1600. HDR and G-SYNC are both enabled. Everything is working flawlessly. • One of the USB outputs on the KVM is attached to a 10-port Anker USB-3 hub. Right now I'm using 4 of the ports, and everything is working great. I'm using it for a wireless Logitech gaming mouse, a wireless Logitech gaming keyboard, a THX Onyx audio adapter, and a SteelSeries wireless gaming headset. With all that hardware attached, this KVM is working flawlessly. When I wake up my computer, the display turns on quickly. Switching between computers is super easy and reliable using the remote. There are also buttons on top of the KVM that let you switch between computers. The only downside is that the KVM has cable connections on both sides of the unit. I would have preferred to have them all on the rear. However, that's not a huge deal breaker. I just mounted the KVM to the back edge of my desk with some double-sided tape. That keeps it out of the way, and I use the remote for switching between computers. So yeah, if you're looking for a KVM that handles high-end gaming, fast refresh rates, G-SYNC, HDR, Apple computers, and Windows computers, then this is the KVM that you want.
