Then, like now, schools didn’t allow it, but the approach was quietly effective, providing sensory/tactile stimulation without disrupting others. Plus, the evidence could quickly be swallowed.Now, a whole industry of  chewlry  and fidget tools has sprung up to provide children tools to manage their anxiety, stress, attention or sensory issues. Some are elaborate, like the  tangle therapy . Others are simple, like the  sensory balls . This fidget (being for the hand; chewlry is for the mouth) combines movement (the marble) and pressure (squeezing) with texture (the casing). The palm-sized profile (3”) allows one-handed manipulation allowing focus on simultaneous tasks. I was impressed with how tough the plastic netting was that enclosed the marble. The ends are double-stitched to prevent ripping. And it’s a silent fidget tool, too.This is an excellent tool for kids in school or social settings who need a way to release their ‘activation’ energy without bothering others or calling attention to themselves. I am an elementary teacher, and I bought these for some of my more active students. It was a big hit with them.
