I2C, SPI and can are used to communicate with peripherals such as sensors or displays. Its a great little package of processor and screen. Has plenty of GPIOs available and USB-C, also a battery port which I didn't use. The screen is bright and clear. That said I had big troubles getting it working in the arduino IDE. Firstly I had to drop the ESP core software back to v2.x to get the ESP32-S3 working with the FASTLED library and secondly I had to use a sperate branch of the TFT-eSPI library to get it working with ESP32-S3. Hopefully thats helpful to anyone having issues. I also expect these library issues will clear up eventually.
