Review: Great Ball-top Joystick - Surprisingly solid and well made for the price. Feel is really good, clicky but not overly so (better than happ bat-top in both feel and noise for instance). Very similar to the name-brand stick this one copies, but of course a lot cheaper. I've not switched from 8-way (to 4-way) but the perspex gate looks exactly the same as the branded 'JLF' joystick so I would imagine the instructions to switch are the same. If you're mounting to a thick wood panel you'll need to do some woodwork as this is intended to be top mounted but that's not the fault of this stick.

A: I use this in my retropie arcade...has a 5 pin ribbon cable set-up...1 ground pin and 4 pins for each direction (Up, Down, left, right)...super easy to use and figure out which pin is which direction ...i used 4 different LED's to determine the pin functions...hope this helps !!!

**Q: What order/color combination represents ground/up/left/down/right? I’m having trouble finding a diagram.**
A: I used 4 LED's to sort that out...one LED per pin and figured it out that way...9v battery 4 resisitors and ground

The joystick is fine. My only gripe with it is that it has to be wired with its own cable. Dupont connectors are too loose. I am convinced that anyone saying "only one button/direction works" has it wired in reverse. I made the exact same mistake and had only 1 button working, but reversing the connector made it work. The ground pin is the one closest to the edge of the board.
