The day he died, D. E. Hoste applied to Hudson Taylor for mission work in the China Inland Mission (Now Overseas Missionary Fellowship). Schofield’s prayer was answered as seven Cambridge students volunteered to leave behind cosy lives of wealth and privilege to serve God in whatever way they were led. These seven inspired thousands of others to think seriously of missionary service. Included among them was C.T. Studd, captain of England and the finest cricketer of his day – if he could give all that up, then so could anyone! The story of these seven are an inspiration that God can take people and use them in incredible ways – if they are willing to serve. As Pollock says in his book ‘Theirs is the story of ordinary men, and thus may be repeated’. Will it be repeated in your life? Review: "This is the Lord's Doing" - What this is: Another smoothly written entertaining, inspiring and informative pop history book (Christian History) by John Pollock. John Pollock died earlier this year (age 88) and for a sense of time - his life overlapped with all of the Cambridge Seven, who left for China in the 1880's. For evangelical Christians this book should be pretty exciting and for me it was awesome. It is really a follow up to Pollock's wonderful biography of D.L. Moody ("Moody"), who had a direct impact on the Seven. What this is not: An exhaustive history book. It is also not really about China, but is focused on faith and commitment and taking Christianity seriously enough to give up the world for the Lord. It's less than 100 pages so you'll still have time to give up the world for the Lord . . . Review: Excellent Reading - This books details the amazing story of seven young men from Cambridge Univ. who dedicated their lives to mission service, beginning in China. Some of the story assumes that one knows about British culture, but the message is nonetheless excellent. ## Features - Christian Focus Publications - The Cambridge Seven: The True Story of Ordinary Men Used in no Ordinary way - ABIS BOOK ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #1,461,215 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #2,057 in Christian Men's Issues #6,248 in Christian Biographies (Books) #6,896 in Religious Leader Biographies | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 32 Reviews | ## Images ![The Cambridge Seven: The True Story of Ordinary Men Used in No Ordinary Way (History Makers) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71SgCRPmSLL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This is the Lord's Doing" *by J***T on September 30, 2012* What this is: Another smoothly written entertaining, inspiring and informative pop history book (Christian History) by John Pollock. Some of the story assumes that one knows about British culture, but the message is nonetheless excellent. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ These men weren't just ordinary people of their day and many great things were expected of them in the world *by T***G on July 11, 2015* A missionary in China prayed for many years that God would give him missionaries from British Universities to help in China. One by one, God began to work in the hearts of 7 different men and eventually brought them together to fulfill that very prayer. These men weren't just ordinary people of their day and many great things were expected of them in the world. One was even acknowledged as the greatest cricket player of his day. But God's calling upon each of their lives was more important to them than anything the world had to offer. They gave up much to give God their all. I was awed by their commitment to God. It was great to see how God orchestrated things to bring this group together and their obedience and willingness led to a nation forever being changed. God does indeed answer prayers! ## Frequently Bought Together - The Cambridge Seven: The True Story of Ordinary Men Used in No Ordinary Way (History Makers) - C. T.
