The wood is very sturdy and doesn't chip at all. They're very similar to the wooden spoons you cook with. We never use all six at once because we divide in teams but it's always good to have extras. It came in its own box in individually-wrapped bubble wrap. The kids loved it and it's one game that nobody fights over.
