Review: Got my snowblower running again! - Bought an early 2000s MTD Pro snow blower off of marketplace for like $50. Guy left old fuel in it for like 3 years so the carb was all gunked up. Got this bad boy and it probably took maybe an hour to swap out with the old one. Just realize there's some parts on your old carb that have to move over to this. Next day we got hit with a huge snowstorm and my snowblower ran great! Kit came with so many extra parts which was nice including bolts for mounting the choke control from the old carb. Which thank god it did because I had to cut the old carbs bolts with a rotary tool because the bolts were stripped and weren't budging. The kit even comes with 2 pieces of some solid fuel line with a fuel filter and shutoff to upgrade the old fuel line that didn't include any of that. I actually didn't realize that is what it was for and thought they didn't send a long enough fuel line so I'll probably do that a different time. My line was fine so it didn't matter too much, but I can't speak on how it holds up since I didn't use it. I do wish it came with extra line for the primer (be aware that it doesn't in case you have to cut the line because its stuck on old carb), but for $20 though, this is a great kit and everything fit perfectly. Much better then trying to clean up the old one which I now have as a spare. I can see me using parts from this kit for a long time. Perfect fit, easy install, started on the first pull. *by A***R on November 15, 2024* An exact fit for my 2006 OEM Snow King snowblower engine. Started on the first pull, checked high and idle RPMs with a tachometer and they were spot on, no adjustment needed. Only used the carb, original fuel/primer lines and primer bulb were just fine, but good to have replacements for future needs. Quick and simple installation, no instructions so if you're skittish, look up your specific snowblower on Youtube and watch some of the many videos. Take pictures and note which hole the governor link uses, I marked the correct spot for the new one with a Sharpie before I started. You'll also use the original shield bracket and choke linkage, so be sure to note how they work. And do yourself a favor and use ONLY ethanol-free gas in small carbureted engines, mine was 12 years old when I got it, clearly the previous owner did not. I'll clean out the old carb at some point and put it on the shelf, but this was a hassle free, quick and efficient choice. UPDATE to my 11/15/2024 review: have used this carburetor on my Tecumseh snowblower for 2 full seasons now, including the last '25-'26 pretty brutal NY winter. Works perfectly still, zero issues, starts quick, runs smooth. Every time. Again, I can't impress how important it is to use Ethanol-free gas ONLY. Also do yourself a favor and don't fill it up in the fall with summer blend gas.
