Each serving delivers 6 grams of complete plant protein with all essential amino acids, plus vital minerals like manganese and magnesium. Pre-washed and de-saponized for a clean, nutty flavor, this sustainably sourced quinoa supports fair trade practices and fits perfectly into vegetarian and health-conscious diets. ## Description Quinoa, the Mighty Grain Quinoa is an ancient South American staple cultivated from the pristine Andean mountains. It is revered as "the mother grain" and known to be "the gold of the Incas". Aesthetically it is similar to rice, but carries its own unique nutritional profile and texture. Quinoa does not belong to the same family as wheat, barley, oats or rye, making it suitable for anyone following a gluten-free diet. Nutrition Profile of Viva Naturals Organic Quinoa Amino Acids: Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. Our quinoa is a complete protein source that contains all of the essential amino acids, making it highly suitable for vegetarians who typically follow a plant-based diet. Essential amino acids are those that are not made in the body, and must therefore be obtained through the diet. The U.S. recommended daily allowance (RDA) of protein is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body mass, or about 0.4 grams per pound. Each serving of Viva Naturals Organic Quinoa contains 6g of protein. Essential Vitamins and Minerals: In addition to iron, quinoa contains other essential minerals such as, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and is a high source of manganese. A study published in the Journal of Nutrition indicated maintaining adequate amounts of manganese led to healthy inflammatory pathways and improved joint mobility. The Viva Naturals Difference Viva Naturals' quinoa seeds are harvested in the high altitude mountainous regions of Bolivia. Quinoa is threshed from fully matured plants, releasing nutritionally-rich seeds of exquisite taste. Naturally covered by bitter saponins, Viva Naturals' quinoa is de-saponized removing unwanted bitter qualities and offering exceptional flavor. Viva Naturals' organic whole grain quinoa is sustainably grown and sourced directly from farmers in accordance with fair trade practices. Review: Delicious and nutritious! - We LOVE this Quinoa! The quality is excellent, and the fact that it’s pre-washed saves time. It cooks up light, fluffy, and clean-tasting with no bitterness, making it a perfect substitute for rice or pasta in healthy meals. We like it plain with just a little salt and olive oil. It’s a great source of plant protein and much morenutritiousthan pasta. The 4 lb bag is a fantastic value and lasts a long time. I’ve used it in soups, salads, grain bowls, and even breakfast recipes, and it works beautifully every time. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a healthy, versatile pantry staple. Please see the following information on Prop 65: Prop 65 is an initiative whose goal is to protect drinking water sources in California from toxic substances that may cause illness, while also eliminating exposure to these substances in general. The safety limits set by Prop 65 are not realistic for most food products, as these standards were never meant to be applied to food. High-quality foods grown all over the world are grown in extremely fertile soil, essential for their growth and nutrient density. This means there are heavy, naturally occuring earth-based metals (minerals) found within them. This is a completely natural biological phenomenon. In California, anyone who sells products containing any of the 900 substances listed under Prop 65 is required by law to place a Prop 65 warning on their packaging, or anywhere else their product is sold (like on our Amazon pages). However, heavy metal limits on our Quinoa are well below USP safety standards, and always third-party tested to confirm this. I hope this helps! I understand the grain is gluten free by itself but what about cross-contamination?** A: I do not see any label that states its Certified Gluten Free... It states Certified Organic, Verified NON GMO, It's a product of Bolivia. It doesn't state anything about where it's packed other than"Is sustainably grown and sourced directly from farmers in accordance with fair trade practices" I think you should contact Viva Labs directly for further info. There website is www.VivaLabs.com - phone # 1-800-921-8482 **Q: Is this quinoa fair trade?** A: Hi. The label states "Viva labs' organic whole grain quinoa is sustainably grown and sourced directly from farmers in accordance with fair trade practices." I don't know if a certification seal is required to back this statement. I don't see one if it is. There is a Non-GMO verified seal and a QAI certified organic seal on the label. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Delicious and nutritious! *by L***N on 10 May 2026* We LOVE this Quinoa!
