This design also doesn’t allow dust to settle onto the top grinder since it is covered. They are build nicely. Grind pretty finely. They hold a large amount of salt and peppercorns. To grind by turning the upper half, works well and turns smoothly and easily. Very pleased with the value of this item. Changing review from 1 to 4 stars EDIT: After fiddling with this mill some more we managed to get the bottom open for refilling purposes with the help of pliers which I really wanted to avoid. I understand the need to make the lid not randomly fall out but the design of the lid needs some rethinking. It is a plastic lid in a plastic thread. So far, the mill appears to work well. __________ Unfortunately it is impossible to say whether it is more than eye candy as the bottom does not twist open to be filled. The bottom lid only budges a bit to the right and left but not a lot and cannot be pulled out. So disappointed as the idea seems great but the plastic screw in bottom and the wood don't seem compatible.
