The carbon steel allows it to be lighter than cast iron, though it's still pretty heavy if you're trying to toss your food while cooking. The other thing to keep in mind with stovetop woks is that you need a really high flame to get it hot enough to function well and produce real wok hei. I don't think it would work well on an electric stovetop. Gas is better but residential gas ranges have to be turned way up. An induction range or commercial gas burner would be best. I manage with my gas range on high. It's also a really well-made, beautiful pan.
