They write smoothly and well, are nicely dark without smudging excessively as some others do; and perhaps best of all, they are very easily sharpened (as opposed to the standard experience of uneven sharpening and the tip breaking off repeatedly just as the pencil is almost sharpened enough!)I guess it's the right mix of wood, graphite, etc.Yes, I'm a bit of a nerd, but not so much that I'd spend my time writing a review about pencils unless they were really great!
