From day 1 I have been using external speakers so honestly I have no idea what this thing sounds without them. It has built in speakers but I have not once used them at all. I have a spare Bose system with a passive woofer and have no use for the built in speakers. This player supports 45, 78, and what I play 33 1/3. It brings the necessary spindle adaptor too. This player is replacing an older Crosley I've had for over 2 decades now and the only reason I'm replacing it is because it had been in storage for the past 4 or so years and something made a nest inside it. After cleaning it out I may have missed something and it started to smell like smoke. So not risking a fire, decided to get a low budget replacement while I work on saving for a full blown system. Final thoughts. I have bought some vinyls recently from desertcart and Barnes and Noble, it honestly is a hit or miss based on the quality of manufacturing. Some vinyls come out great and sturdy others warped and fragile looking. So long as you know this is a budget player and some vinyls are not made with the best in mind, you'll be fine.
