A little research provided the answer that Apple had changed the charging circuit to use a different pin on the connector. Sigh...I found this Charging Adapter and it seemed like it would be the solution to getting my Nano to charge wherever I happened to be using it. Sadly, even with this adapter, my Nano would still not charge in 4 of my 5 docks. Luckily, the one that it did work in is the one I use at work and is the primary reason I went looking for a charging adapter.I'm not sure why it failed to work in the other docs (that still charge my Classic, by the way), and I don't have the patience to find out why.I would have definitely returned it if it hadn't worked in that one dock. I'm still kinda on the edge about returning it or not. Just be aware that whether it works in your older docks my end up being a toss of the dice. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not a universal device for newer ipods to older docks *by K***H on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on July 20, 2015* Bought this so my 4th gen ipod nano would charge while playing / resting in a JVC dock which we used with an earlier generation ipod for years. the charging part worked - but the music wouldn't play through the dock when connected. So for me it wasn't worth the $18 to just use it as a charger then disconnect to play music. Admittedly, the JVC dock was not mentioned in the product description, so for all I know it works great with the exact types of devices described. The problem I have with it is size. It's very thick and it's impossible to connect to iPhone with a case that covers any part of the bottom of the phone. I had to take the case off to use it. I ended up buying a dock extension cable that fits very nicely and gives an ability to lift and move the phone.
