The tip still looks brand new once cleaned up a bit. **Q: Details say you can adjust the iron from 5 to 40 watts. What range is that in F degrees** A: There is no firm correlation between wattage and temperature. Don't waste your money. Get an iron with actual feedback controlled temperature control. You cannot calibrate this for temperature. Tip temperature at any given wattage setting will depend on room temperature and will drop quickly when you actually try to solder using this. Then it takes a long time to come back up to temperature. **Q: could i swithc out the iron and plug a differnt soldering iron in if i wanted?** A: Yes. I've used several different soldering irons in it. I wouldn't go over a 40 watt iron. My old switchable 15/30 watt works very well with it. Don't leave it on high to warm up unless your watching it. First time burned the solder off the iron. Had to re tin it. Yup it get Hot 😆😊 **Q: How long does it take to heat up enough to work with?** A: Under 5 mins? Turn the dial to the far right and turn it on.
