Zero. Well worth the investment.I am blowing air into the unit rather than pulling. To do this, I designed a pre-filter over the end of my duct that cleans particles from the air before entering the duct work and filter unit. I've heard of people stuffing the pre-filter inside the can - sounds like a dumb idea.For the pre-filter I used some chicken wire and made a big cone shape to fit over the end of the duct, then bought a big cheap flat furnace filter from the hardware store, cut the filter out and wrapped it around my wire frame. Air gets pulled in through this.I have it setup like this:air direction >>>>>> homemade pre-filter >>> duct >>> fan >>> can filter >>>> clean air.I left the pre-filter on the outside of the can for the heck of it. Could probably increase air flow if I remove it.I used the Can Steel Flange kit, it easily screws into the can filter.This unit works 100%. If it doesn't work for you check for any air leaks that bypass the filter. Remember to get the flange....we have the 6 inch and was a snap to put on as well. The shipping on the other hand was not good at all but should not affect the review for the item which works incredibly well at scrubbing the air. If you can find local and they will match price, we would recommend buying there as the packing from here was an issue twice and the product was damaged. The first time we returned as it had a hole but the second time we just kept it as it was dented but still works well.
