Tapping it changes color and powers on/off, holding it adjusts light intensity. It looks fine at medium gradient and all the shading details show up well. It is very light to the point of being easy to bump off the stand so a secure untrafficked location is ideal. It would likely be easy to hang it from the ceiling with clear fishing line or such other method. I left it on for six hours the first time , have to test it with different brightnessess but the package claims a maximum of 20 hours on low setting. I purchased the natural two color version because the sixteen color model just seemed ridiculous, but the price was only a few bucks difference, same goes for the seamed or seamless models. Pretty interesting little bit of uniqueness for the home or as a gift for a an astronomy or astrology buff.
