I blew up the old backflow vent after forgetting that the outflow was shut and sending all the pressure through this plastic part. (This is where the professionals who charge $150 are laughing at me. Yeah, I know) The good news here is that all you need to do is unscrew the top of your backflow preventer, replace the broken parts with this kit, screw the top back on and you are ready to go for winter. If you need any instructions, there are youtube videos to show you exactly how.
