It will then discharge and show you how much capacity the battery had then it will fully charge it again and tell you how many Milli-Amps the battery "took". If you have a battery with a memory or that is confused, there is a mode to fix that too. It charges, discharges multiple times at different rates to get the battery back to it's highest capacity. I had some old Maxell batteries (at least 12 years old) that had been stored dead and would not charge. I used the "break in" mode and it was able to bring those batteries back to full capacity and they are working great! Some of my older Tenergy batteries would not come back though, their impedance was high and the display said "HIGH" and would not charge them.... they're dead. It has been fun refreshing all my collection of batteries, some didn't make it but many lived on to power another day! There was a bit of entertainment value for me too...
