They are either Type B or Type C. A Type B cable will not fit a Type C device, (phone, tablet, whatever), and vice versa. I recently bought a generic Type C cable for a new Lenovo tablet. To repeat, the cable was a GENERIC one, (ie. NOT Lenovo brand). It fits and works perfectly. I do not know whether the Samsun Galaxy S8 is a type B or Type C, but as long as you make sure that both cable and device are the same connector Type, my personal opinion is that you would be safe to use this cable. You can always send it back to Amazon if not. To help you identify which is which, the small end of the cable on Type C, (and so, the hole on the device it goes into also), is a loop shape with both ends rounded, whereas the cable end and device hole for Type B is what mathematically speaking is called a TRAPEZIUM (ask Google). I would also describe it the "house roof" shape that very young children often draw when drawing a house. The main point is that the ends of the shape are diagonal straight lines, not rounded like the Type C. Hope that helps. **Q: Does this lead fit the Sony Xperia X** A: Yes it does fit the Sony Xperia X **Q: Will these work with the nintendo switch oled console?** A: I have no idea. I bought a new Nokia phone last year and this is the type of charger that came with it, so I ordered more so I could charge it in different places in the house. If your Nintendo requires a USB C charger, then I guess they should work OK **Q: Does this lead fit a Samsung A8** A: I don't know the phone you are quoting. All I can say is that the last phone I bought had a different charger connection, where all my old phones and chargers had a terminal that was slightly wider at one side than the other, so you could not put it into the phone upside down, it would only fit one way. This newer USB C is the same width at both sides and can be inserted either way. You can see this looking at the picture of the item. If your phone has a slot that is tapered from wider to narrower, this will not fit, but if the slot is equally wide at both sides, it probably will.
