Not Perfect, But Definitely Sleeping Better
From all the reviews for all these different anti-snoring aids, it's clear that each design works for some people, but does nothing for others. So, I'll start by describing myself, and you can judge whether this Snoring Stop will work for you.I don't have a professional medical diagnosis, but I'm guessing that I have mild sleep apnea. My wife says that I tend to snore, and that it interrupts my breathing - not for very long, because I am light sleeper. But it's enough to cause poor quality of sleep. When I wake (early in the morning) I have a dry mouth, and don't feel rested.I am in my late forties, still pretty thin (5'8", 145 lb. - up from 135 lb. when I was in my twenties), rarely drink, and don't generally have any of the issues that can aggravate snoring, other than "getting old." I am a back sleeper (and only snore when on my back), and my snoring seems to be caused by my jaw "drooping" slightly, i.e. opening and slipping back towards my throat, and hence cutting off my breathing. For me, the Snoring Stop *does* help. I can tell I'm not snoring as much, because I don't wake up with a dry mouth, and I generally feel more rested. I still wake up, but mostly for other reasons - the dog making noise, loud early-morning traffic, going to the bathroom, etc., but I think I've reduced or eliminated the damage that snoring does to my sleep. Why 4, not 5 stars? Well, first I agree with other reviewers that the strap is too long. I make it work by doubling it up, but it would be nice if a shorter strap were available. Second, it only works if you prop your head up. To be fair, the company is clear about this, so I knew before buying, but I want to emphasize to prospective buyers that they will need to experiment with different pillow arrangements to get the Snoring Stop to work for them. It *will* work, but the price you might pay is that your neck is bent forward a little, so it's not quite as comfortable as your normal sleeping position.I hope this helps.

Great for females too!
I have had Dr. Dakota's snore stop for three months now and I am ready to review it. I was skeptical at first that it would help keep my gaping mouth closed. I wore it for a few weeks to get used to it. It seemed to keep my head from hitting my chest which is always a plus. It didn't help to keep my mouth closed by itself.Seven weeks ago I was diagnosed with central sleep apnea, no snoring involved. I started using a CPAP mask but was still having issues with my mouth hanging open. I was being pumped full of air like crazy. I added a typical chin strap and that did the job. Between the chin strap and Dr. Dakota's snore stop my head stayed in a safe position and my airway was not blocked. The seal on my mask stopped leaking and I was able to get some sleep. The neck brace has held up well. I have removed the cover one time to hand wash it. It was still damp hours later at bedtime so I used my hair dryer to dry it. It was quick and worked great. The Velcro is holding up well and I have no issues putting it on or removing it. The cloth is soft and does not irritate my neck or chin. One of my favorite thing about the neck brace is that it is narrow in the back. I do not have to sleep on a bulky uncomfortable lump.I really like the bright red color that really stands out. I can find it easily in a darkened room. It fits me well. Almost all of the snoring/apnea equipment is geared towards men and usually runs large, is bulky or just plain ugly. Any female can use this product and it will fit well. I highly recommend this neck brace for snoring or sleep apnea issues.

Didn't work for me.
I (i am using my wifes account) had sleep apnea for 25 years and was finally cured two years ago after wearing a CPAP since 99, so i am able to get used to just about anything strapped to my face.Anywho, i bought this because i now sleep with my mouth open (average humididty of about 10% year round) and it dry's out, so i though this would help keep my mouth shut and decrease snoring. It might, but so would duct tape, and i think duct tape would be more comfy. This is the dumbest purchase i have made since buying that ping pong cue stick. Sheesh. Anyway, i guess it is worth a try if they take it back. If they wont refund me i will do an update and say i would not even try it if i were you. I noticed when i read the negative reviews before i bought it that all the reviews that were negative had someone respondeding saying the reviewers were all shills for other products or were morons for not reading the directions. Well, i can tell you, i havn't found anything that works well and is comfortable yet, so whoever the paranoid person responding to the reviews is....eetme.

Not sure it helps and it's design is so-so
The strap isn't very good. The strap uses velcro and it's noisy when you are trying not to disturb your spouse. Also, it's seem designed for someone with a large neck and so I have to pull the strap all the way over to the opposite side and use the velcro on that side. You also have to "thread" the strap through the hole in the brace every time. It just seems the strap design could have been 100% better. The brace/pad itself if probably firmer than it needs to be but it's not unbearably uncomfortable. Lastly, I really can't validate that it's effective but I can't say it's not either. The main point of my review is that the design is somewhat poor and could easily have been much better to improve ease of use and comfort. Arguably, the effectiveness is probably going to vary by individual. In general, I'd say it does help hold your mouth closed and supports your chin. Whether that stops you from snoring is another question. I stopped using it so I'm giving it two stars given my dislike for the design and uncertainty regarding it's effectiveness for me personally.

I still snore especially if I have taken cold medicine ...
I still snore especially if I have taken cold medicine. My spouse says that with this I don't have gasping for air episodes and I do feel more rested in morning. I have difficulty trying to adjust it for comfort as I don't want it too tight, but can't be too loose as it doesn't work. I can wear this throughout the night without a problem. I have only had it for maybe 5 days so hoping to continue to use and it will still help.
