Being attached makes it less likely that one would misplace it. The remote and the unit's power cord come out of the crease between the seat and the back unit; the power cord can be detached but the remote remains attached at all times. **Q: Is this the best Electric Massagers brand? The quality of how?** A: I think the design is good and feels great on the back and neck. The quality is suspect. I have a popping sound in the middle of the travel however. I have decided to see if I can get it repaired or replaced. I really do enjoy the product. **Q: Is there a part number for the power cord?** A: I am sure there must be a part number but I don't know it. Best would be to call their number or go into their website.
