**Q: is this timer a delay on make, or a delay on break?**
A: it is a delay on make... Some thermostats. The minute you try to set the temperature... The compressor or the fear immediately tries to turn on... This is very bad, especially for a compressor, so you install a delay on make to give you time to adjust. The thermostat to the desired temperature,... Before actually sending the signal to turn on the compressor.  I have a NEST thermostat, I love it but to me it has one issue that this device helped resolve, and that is turning the dial to a desired temperature... It would immediately invoke the contractor relay for the compressor, I need a delay so I can choose the desired temperature and then wait a like 15 seconds before sending the signal to the relay, which turns on the compressor.  another very important device to install along with this is a delay on break, if the compressor is running... And your power goes off for a few milliseconds... You want a delay of 7 to 10 min. before the compressor is to restart, this will save a lot of stress on your compressor.

**Q: can i put power on load side for a few seconds without damage**
A: Yes. The output triac is rated at 1 AMP.
