The dial ones are so hard to read and to get an accurate reading so a digital was my choice for upgrading. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this one. It's super accurate, folds up nicely for storage and is incredibly easy to read. I love that it is so easy to know when your meats have actually hit the right temp so you don't end up overcooking them, especially chicken that dries out faster than a flying toupee in a hurricane! So handy and finally a tool that I don't mind taking up space in my gadget drawer.
