They can also be cleaned periodically. It is just recommended not to use harsh cleaners or extremely hot water temperatures when doing so. **Q: Will these work for bruising low on the shin (like just about foot/ ankle area)? Most bruising I see on reviews is on the actual middle shin** A: The only way to know for sure is to find out. My bruising/shin pain when I ski is right in the middle of the leg where the boot is in contact, and I ended ski season going without protection. I ordered these for next ski season. Good luck! **Q: What if your leg sweat?** A: To cold to sweat where we are but they work well and the ski socks we wear are snug enough to keep it in place if you do.
