The original filter, which I suspect had never been changed on the car, since it was only 3 years old, was a piece of crap. It was just pleated plastic-like membrane that while not overly dirty per se, but had fallen apart. As if it had begun to biodegrade while still in my car.Paying $25 for these filters at Walmart, Fleet Farm, or other box stores is a touch on the ridiculous side, since its only probably worth $2. So I achieved quite a cost savings getting it for $14 here.This unit was far more robust a product, with activated carbon and thicker "plates" of material to capture dust and other particulates. I noted while I was looking inside, that you can see the hood up above from inside where the filter sits, so its of particular importance to have a good clean air filter in place, so that maple spinners, pine needles, and mouse crap doesn't end up inside and ruin a very tight to fix blower motor, that on this Ford Fusion is wedged between 2 air bags, making changing the motor particularly hard. I plan to keep 2 of these in stock, since they are $25 in store, and we have a lot of tree cover and mice in our area. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars 2014 Ford Fusion *by D***K on Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2020* I brought this a while back and had it in my garage putting it off longer than needed. At 50k miles now started having a bad smell when starting the car all the time. In this car it takes about 20 minutes to replace. 4 7mm screws and 2 philips screws later in/out and nice tight fit. the old one definitely needed to be replaced.
