Easy decision. I ran over the heavy duty 100 foot hose with the riding mower. I wasn't ready to toss the hose as this is the first season I'm using it. This repair connector kit is what I needed. The quality is ok. Not top of the line, but does the job, and again, the price is right. The clamps are sub-par. Don't think you're going to make it work just using your flathead screwdriver - not happening. Maybe if you have a thin low duty hose the screwdriver will work. However, medium or heavy duty, just go straight for the ratchet. Get out your ratchet set and pull out the 7mm socket - this is what you'll need. The clamp on the male side was ok. However, on the female side, before I could get it tight enough, the clamp stripped. Maybe my heavy duty hose was too much for it to handle? I have better clamps in my tool chest, so I used one of those on the female side, and everything is working fine now - no leaks under full pressure. It got the job done, and saved me the cost of the hose. Good quality hoses are quite expensive these days, so these connectors are a good solution to get more life out of your damaged hose. Not sure if it will fit pex. But I can tell you that you would need pex crimps if it does. It came with regular hose clamps. The quality of the fitting is excellent. **Q: Are the threads GHT or 3/4" NPT?** A: These are designed to work with standard American garden hoses that are 3/4" inside diameter. I used silicone self-fusing tape over the hose clamp to make it slide smoothly and not cut hands. **Q: some guy complaining about leaks on his hose and blaming these connectors. I have never in my life seen such idiots before ??** A: Seems to work okay when tightened up properly.
