It made the cooking water thick and syrupy, too. It reminded me of nothing so much as tiny orange garden slugs stewed in viscous fluid. It was just so terribly revolting. My kid gagged with every attempted bite, and even I came close. I am not normally put off by strange textures. I have no problem eating raw oysters, sautéed mushrooms or anything else slimy. This was something else, though. The flavor was very cinnamony, with hardly any sweet potato flavor, and perhaps it would be good for breakfast, but the texture was so awful that we could never bring ourselves to eat it.
